Blackpool's seafront is the heart of it all, and you are only 100 yards away. Stroll the promenade past the three piers, ride a heritage tram, and look up at the Tower. Thrill-seekers can take on the Big One and the rest of Pleasure Beach, or warm up at Sandcastle Waterpark. Come autumn, the Illuminations light the whole prom for miles. It is the classic seaside, right on your doorstep.

There are dance competitions at the historic Tower Ballroom, the thrill of the summer Air Show over the sea, Rebellion for the punk crowd, Blackpool Pride, and the Firework Championships lighting up the bay. Whatever brings you to town, you will have a quiet flat to return to afterwards.

Beyond Blackpool

There is more to the Fylde coast than Blackpool itself. Hop on the tram north to Fleetwood for its market and ferry, or south to genteel Lytham St Annes with its windmill and greens. Inland, the Ribble Valley and the Forest of Bowland offer proper countryside walks. The heritage tramway runs the length of the seafront, so these day trips up and down the Fylde coast are simple to reach.
